Hello and thanks for reading! I've had high b/p for about 8 years now.(Since I was 14, I'm 22 now.) I currently take Lisinpril 40mg & Lasix 40mg.

My husband and I are trying to concieve, and I know that I cannot take this medication while pregnant. Any suggestions on medications that you can take while pregnant for high b/p?

I've tried the Aldomet (Methyldopa). It made me dangously sleepy and still didn't control my bp very well. But would be willing to try it again, as my husband and I have tried for a baby for 2 years. I would do whatever it would take! ;)

I have a dr appointment on the 17th of Feb. Just want to come prepared! Thanks everyone!

I had borderline BP before I got pregnant the 2nd time. I was on benicar and it was an unplanned pregnancy. As soon as I found out I was pregnant they took me off medication. oddly my BP returned to normal early on but later on it went up to 150/90 so I was on aldomet. it also made me very sleepy and really didn't lower my BP very well so I stopped taking it. I do not think there are any other options as for medications during pregnancy, but you may want to talk to your obgyn.

they may want to do a csection on you vs natural. if you have hypertension I think they worry about your BP getting too high with natural and cauing a stroke. Also after a csection they pump you up with so much saline my BP spiked horrible in the hosp and they dont do much because they claimed they were afraid of lowering it too much. Sent me home and thats when it spiked to 191/110.

Well, thank you for your story, although it made me very sad and discouraged about becomming pregnant. I have spoke with my obgyn, I actually work for the obgyn that I will use when I become pregnant. I am seeing a medical dr on the 17th for some further evaluation. So I am hoping for good news from him. Thank you again though! :)

On this site, I've noticed a lot of pregnant women take Labetalol during pregnancy. It is an alpha/beta blocker. It is approved for pregnancy. Fam
