Hello again,

I have been taking the metamucil as suggested since yesterday. I am wondering if when I have a BM it will be "normal" or will the diarreahea get worse before it gets better? I also have had a slight loss of appetite since I started the fiber is this usual? (I have to go to town to finish Christmas shopping and I'm afraid I am going to be scrambling for a washroom, when the fiber starts to work) Please Help!!

As you will find out metamucil is a bowel regulator and works for diarrhea just as well as it does for constipation. It is a stool bulking agent!!!

As you probably already know ---with bowel problems it's always a good idea to know where the bathrooms are located wherever you go???

Hi chevy. Don't give up on the Metamucil too quickly - you may have worsened diarrhea before things "firm up." Everybody's different, but the fiber will do your digestive tract good, so keep on with it, even if it doesn't seem to be working.

And like Harry says, just always know where the bathrooms are. Anyone with bowel issues has to plan trips and know where the nearest toilet is.

Good luck to you,
Katie G

Hi,

ok it has been almost one week since I started metamucil. I have been eating two wafers with about 10 ozs. of juice or water every morning. I have had 2 normal bm's in the past week and no diarrehea so far. I do drink throught out the day but I dont know if I am drinking enough. Should I be drinking more than 2-3 glasses? I dont want to get a blockage but I dont want to cause the diarrehea to return either.

(Also I plan to start taking the second dose this weekend.) Please help!

Everybody is different but drinking water does not promote or cause diarrhea. You should drink 6 to 8 glasses of water daily. You body is made up of 70 % water--- you need to keep hydrated---- everything just works better with adequate water!!!
As you are finding out psyllium is a bowel regulator and works just fine for diarrhea as well as constipation.

God Bless---Harry
