THanks dennie 12-23-2002, 10:17 AM Hi Lawman Blood in your stool is never normal....and isn't caused by IBS. Common causes for blood in the bowl water or toilet paper might be hemorrhoids, anal fissure, etc...especially if the blood is bright red. A darker, almost black color usually means GI bleeding in the upper GI tract. Note: some hemorrhoids can be heavy bleeders, so you may not want to wait too long before getting it checked out. The wisest thing to do if this continues is get it checked out by a physician. Then you'll know for sure what may be causing it, and you can start the right treatment to alleviate/relieve it. vogue 12-23-2002, 11:48 AM Having a lot of diarrhea can make you bleed a little. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif A lot of blood is no good though... should get that checked out.. ben |
