Hello,

I am 22 and male, from the UK. For the past 8 or 9 years, i was getting tonsillitus every 4 - 6 weeks without fail, in the past few months so bad that i couldnt move for days, totally bed bound.

I had tonsillectomy on Wednesday, and yesterday was not too bad, but today, i cannot speak, my tounge is really swollen, the pain when swallowing is absolutely horrendous, worst pain i have ever experienced (and i have experienced some excrutiating injuries!) and my jaw, ears, head, neck, back all ache a lot, i am also suffering from a mild fever, and feeling very run down.

Is this normal after a tonsillectomy? The surgeon told me that both tonsils were roughly the size of a golf ball each, and "disgusting" and that i had no alternative but to have them removed, as eventually they would have ended me by either infection, or in terms of blocking my airway.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thank you,

Sounds like you may have a infection. I would call my doctor ASAP..
