Hi, I'm having some major pain on my left side and it's gotten to the point to where I can't stand straight up. I'm doubled over all the time and eating pain pills like they're candy. Pap smear came back normal so I have no clue what it could be. It feels like the pain starts around my ovaries and it's just getting worse and worse. Has anyone ever had this sort of pain?

It sounds like an infection of a diverticular---called diverticulitis.
You should go see a doctor ASAP

Hi Harry,
Thanks so much for the information. I have called my doctor and asked if this could be a possibility and she did agree. They've tested me for everything else and everything has come back normal so I am staring a high fiber diet today.
Again, thank you so much for answering my post.

Darla, When I had similar symptoms none of the gynecologists I saw thought I had a gynecology problem because nothing could be seen on imaging tests and all my lab tests came back in normal range.
Eventually I was sent to the Gastroenterologist.
Although he agreed to a colonoscopy he told me that he already knew that nothing would show up from the colon oscopy because in his opinion he felt I had pelvic adehsions attaching to my colon from the outside of the colon.
And he was absolutely 100% right.
A surgeon has to go inside the pelvic area with a laproscope to diagnose and treat correctly.
That's the basic.
So, if you exhaust all of the Bowel disorder avenues and still have the problem, find a good Reproductive Endocrinologist and see if you can get an exploratory lap scheduled. I suggest a Reproductive Endocrinologist because if you do have the pelvic adhesion problem it is highly likely that you might have a metabolic disorder attached to that problem and a RE could give you the best guidence if that is the reality

Hi Kat,
Could that be associated in any way with endometriosis? I know I've got that but never suffered any pain from it but figure as I get older.....ugh.
I just hate even the idea of any kind of surgery. I'm such a coward.

Yes, Endometriosis is a big part of the whole problem which is really more of a Syndrome since it gathers so many different types of symptoms.
If your Endometriosis has stimulate the growth of sufficient enough scar tissue to disturb your bowel movements and/or bladder function, then you may need for a Surgeon to go in and try to spearate the the organs which could be stuck together.
It would all depend on your pain and how difficult your body functions might become. The reality of Adhesions and Endometriosis on the colon is that it will make you more prone to a bowel impaction or a bowel obstruction so you would need to tend your bouts with constipation prudently because then it becomes an emergency situation if it the colon has blockage problems.
Some women go on for many years with out needing surgery.
It is totally an individual case by case.
My Endocrinologist told me that 95% of women with Endometriosis turn up with Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
