for those following:
i went and got follow up thyroid testing done on monday 02/02, and was told to make an appointment for a few days after. well that appointment was yesterday, thursday 02/05. my family doctor wanted to go over the results and really set some time aside to talk things over.
so, she said the first round of thyroid tests i got, my TSH was over active, and this time it is underactive, ruled out some other things and diagnosed me with "Hashimoto's Thyroiditis." [its an autoimmune disease and my body is actually attacking my thyroid like its a foreign object, in turn, makes it inflammed.] which makes perfect sense because quite frequently i've gotten a fullness feeling in my throat, i just thought i was thirsty or having acid reflux. so all i have to do is take a tiny little pill "Synthroid" every morning, and thats all! she told me to expect to get my blood taken every 2-3 months to verify that we have the right doseage. i'm scheduled for bloodwork in april, which will tell us which stage of hashimoto's i'm in (it goes in fluctuations.)
my FIRST initial question was, do i have to stop trying or will this hinder me in any way? the synthroid she put me on is safe, safe while pregnant, and even while breastfeeding. she told me what to watch for if maybe the doseage is too much and to call her if i feel anything abnormal (which for me, NORMAL would be abnormal haha) she said i should definately keep trying and said once my thyroid is under control and we get it at the proper levels, things should go smoothely. (plus, april will be our 1 year mark of trying ;) ) so i don't know if she'll start me on fertility, but i think i almost want to see if this will help, which i'm sure it will be a huuuuge step in the right direction!
the thing i'm happiest about though, is i have a name for what's been ailing me, and for all those people that told me it was "all in my head" can friggen eat their words now!! (cough cough, DH!) :p believe you me, i'm rubbing that one in hard!! haha
anyways, there's alot of information on hashimoto's, and i'm still learning about it and what it really is. i'm just so thankful, and i walked out of the doctors office with a NEW SELF CONFIDENCE! i even joined a gym and had my first workout yesterday too! i'm so grateful to finally figure everything out and start a new lifestyle which will hopefully (with both things combined) will bring me to my ultimate goal of starting a family :D so don't expect to get rid of me any time soon ladies - looks like your stuck with me for at least a few months yet haha thank you all again for your undying support and well wishes, i thank god every night in my prayers for each and every one of you. i'm a true believer in karma, and one day, our good deads and support towards eachother will come full circle and we will be blessed with all the children we desire :D

I had a thyroid disorder after both my kids. I have an overactive thyroid that went untreated for ten years which permanently damaged my heart. Every male doc I went to dismissed me as Nuts and though I never listened to them and put myself on the multitude of mood altering drugs they wanted to put me on. I suffered at the hands of people telling me it was all in my head! So I totally understand as, again like I said, I went to docs for TEN years begging for help. I only took my anti-thyroid pill for about a year and my thyroid has been stable now for 10 years though I am thinking of another baby NOW..which may open up a whole new road of MORE of the same! UGH! DH thought I was nuts till one day I met a FEMALE doc, the first one ever I went too and she just looked at me, no blood work and said...HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN THIS WAY? She immediately put me on meds for my heart, ordered blood work and told me that second that I WAS HYPERTHYROID! I thought, finally someone to HELP ME! If it weren't for her, I would have been dead from heart failure, my heart was in the 140's and probably higher. I now today found regular exercise, decreased dairy/calcium and limited sugar nd salt intakes helps to keep my thyroid, goiter and heart stable. Good Luck!

thanks ladies for your love and support :)
watchout, i'm glad you posted your story. i too knew something was wrong and everyone thought i was nuts-o. but i stuck to my guns and my doctor finally figured it out. its a huge relief! so its been about 2 weeks on synthroid, and about 2 weeks with a new excersize program and eating habit. i turned a new leaf, and i'm hoping the pay off will be phenominal :D
again, thank you to each and every one of you for your eternal support and well wishes! god bless!!

I am so glad you got help. I had went to so many doctors over ten years and even though I actually told them I KNEW I had a thyroid disorder, they still went on and ignored me saying what I really needed was anxiety meds. I was so angry and for me thank goodness I didn't take the prozac they wanted to throw at me. I didn't need to mask symptoms, I needed to deal with the ACTUAL problem. All I needed was a medication called PTU (an anti-thyroid med) for about a year and Propranolol (a beta-blocker) which unfortunately I STILL take due to the fact my old, incompetent drs DID ignore me and now my heart is damaged permanently. In life, you need to be the one to take YOUR own health into your hands...you know your body best. I am so glad you are on the mend! No one deserves to be sick and then worse yet, to have people treat us like WE are NUTS!
