Hi there...
Im wondering if anyone else misses their periods with IBS?
Again this week, I missed mine...and im in terrible pain.Im on the birth control pill for regularity...and since this pain has started bothering me , i have missed a few periods.
At present time, my doc only suspects IBS...so until i have more tests done, im at my wits end here with pain and pressure and not knowing for sure what it is!!
Arghhhh

Thanks in Advance!
Hugs!

Hope,

I think I responded to another one of your posts and if I remember correctly, we have alot of the same symptoms.

And I again Also have missed periods. In fact, I am missing one right now (2 weeks).

I have done a great deal of research on all these things. I truly believe there is a connection between all these weird things that go on in my body, and part of a larger systemic problem. (I think IBS is part of a larger problem with the central nervous system relating to I.C. like I mentioned in that previous post.)

The statistic is that 95% of the women who have Endometriosis turn out to have IBS.
Of those women a large number also have adenomyosis and polycystic ovarys and interstitial cystitis.
Of those women there is another large percentage who go on to manifest an autoimmune disorder.
Women with poly cystic ovarys usually tend to have some form of insulin resistence and their ovary problems are often treated with anti diabetic medication. Interstitial cystitis has been thought to be linked with an autoimmune response.
This is information given to me by my Reproductive Endocrinologist.
You may find some answers to the big health mystery with a consultaion with an RE.

My cycle was always off because of severe constipation. I would be so bloated, cramped, backed up etc that it could delay my period for up to 3 weeks (resulting in ALOT of pregnancy tests) Since I have been using metamucil etc I have found that my cycle are really normalizing these days they are't like clock work but they aren't as worrying either!

ps although I have never missed a period completely... so I don't know if this helps but I thought I might just throw my two cents in.
