Hello.

I have had a problem with urination for quite some time now. I think it first started devoloping when I was about 12 years old. Blood used to come out while I was urinating or at the end of the urination. That hasn't happened for quite some time now.
I used to think the pain in my back was because I would tense up because most of the pain was in my abdomen area on the right. The pain in my back was to the right lower back. Close to my pelvis.
Over the years the pain as not been constant, it's been off and on. Recently it started back up again, almost as bad as when I first experienced this pain. But it isn't going away like before, so I researched what it could possible be and Kidney stones sounds like what I have. Not just one, but many over the years.
Another problem I have had, don't know if it is related, could be. But how long it takes to urinate, I usually take up to a couple minutes just to finish urinating. My stream is not that strong of a stream. But with these recent pains flaring up again, my stream has weakened dramatically, sometimes just dribbling out!
Could this as well be related to kidney stones? Maybe blocking the stream? I might also have a Urinary Track Infection.
Let me know if you think this is serious or not. What I could possibly have. I went to get it checked out, they asked me about pain and whatnot. Had me do a Urine test and they prescribed me Levaquin. I looked that up and it fights bacterial infections. Which is good for the Urinary Track infection. But they know that something is wrong with the kidney as well, they just don't know what it is.

Have you been to a Urologist or had xrays taken? It could be an infection, a blockage, stones. I wouldn't wait too long to see a specialist in case it's something serious. Hope all works out well for you. Sue

Well I am in the Military so I just go see a Corpsman. They asked a few questions, I had an x-ray taken before the Military but the x-ray was for scoliosis and I mentioned the pain, so they did an x-ray but never said anything about it.
The corpsman here couldn't figure out what it was so they had me do a urine sample, i don't know what the results were. I just know that they told me and it didn't quite fit what I was trying to explain. They put me on levaquin, which fights bacteria for bronchitus, pneumnia, UTI, etc...

I have had over 70 kidney stones and sometimes you can pass them and not even know that you did if there not that big but it only takes a very small one to cause alot of pain you should see a Dr. because the stones can cause kidney blockage and make your kidney will start swelling up with urine and you will know if that happens because it will be the worst pain you ever experienced.

Kickinit,
You need to tell the Corpsman that you would like a referral to a urologist. If they give you any flak, ask to see his NCO or OIC. If you don't push it, they'll just ignore you and give you a med you don't need. Good luck.
