I have been in a monogamus relationship for 10 yrs. I found a small red bump on my partners penis this weekend. I refused to have sex. He says it is something I must have given to him. I do not have any std that I am aware of nor have I been unfaithful. He is the one prone to cold sores on his mouth. What are the odds he has had herpes the whole 10 yrs and he didn't tell me and he is having and outbreak or that he was unfaithful with someone who was having an outbreak?

A red bump is not necessarily herpes by any means. Give him a break. See if it improves pretty quickly and, if not, he can see a doctor. If herpes, it will probably get pretty ugly and ooze and crust over and he will be in some pain. In that case, he may have some more explaining to do.

If he suffers cold sores then it may be herpes. I fhe rubbed his mouth when he had a cold sore and touched his genitals (say like he had to pee ) and didnt wash his hands its a possibility he passed it down there. Tell him to get swab tested while sore is still there they can get a positive result if the sore is present and may get a negative if healed.

Sounds reasonable!

If the bump has not changed in appearance over this time period, it is probably not herpes. Self transmission from one area to another is rare and should only happen during a primary outbreak, not after he has built up antibodies. I hardly disagree that you should insist that he get it looked at if he still has it.
