I would like to know this as well. In fact, came here to post this very question, but looks like there's no answer. My doc said I could just stop taking it because I've been on 25 mg so long. Think I'm going to drop down to 12.5 for a couple days before stopping and switching to the new BP med. He said I might experience some odd feelings or discomfort, but just push through it. It was exactly what I needed at the time three years ago with my heart was racing from just-diagnosed hyperthyroid, but that's corrected now, and since it's not really helping much with blood pressure, he's switching me. I've wanted to stop taking it anyway, so I'm glad. Just kinda scared of all the problems I read people have had when they stopped it, even when tapering.

Follow the instructions your doc gives you, it gets from lowering doses each time and then finally getting off the med
