I am worried. In 2005 I had my gallbladder removed and one of the tests showed a cyst that was 3.2 in my left kidney. The doc was going to follow up in 6 months, but I don't think we did. I just had a IVP for a bladder infection that lasted a while and they found a cyst that is larger - 4.5 or something like that. If this is the same one it has grown. I went to the urologist who has ordered a ct scan to see if it is cancer. I thought that cysts can grow even if they are benign, but it is sounding like the growing is not a good sign. Any info on that?
I also had a little blood in the urine. He will be doing a bladder check at his office next thurs. when he tells me the results of the ct. I was a smoker for many years, but quit about six years ago. I am pretty scared of this whole thing. I have no pain in the kidneys and I feel pretty healthy except for the UTI I had.
If it is cancer is that a death sentence? I know nothing about this.

Dont stress yourself out too much, untill your doctor tells you what they find. My dad has DOZENS of cysts COVERING his kidneys, all of which are benign. and other organs surrounding. ( He has polycystic kidney disease) the growth is not necessarily a bad sign, cysts do grow in size. If worst came to worst, you might just need a new kidney, which is what my dad needs.
