I take 25 mg of Atenolol and have for several years. For the last couple of months I have been having leg aching and swelling. I first thought it was blood clots or something that was cutting off circulation but we got that ruled out. Has anyone had leg swelling issues when taking Atenolol? Is it a known side effect? Thanks for any help you can give!!:)

Decreased peripheral circulation is a noted side effect of Atenolol (and any beta blockers). Tho I didn't have swelling, I had pains and poor leg circulation and had to stop beta blocker's completely, due to many adverse side effects.

You can't stop cold turkey, so be sure to get with your doctor if you decide to discontinue and get off gradually.
