Hello fellow Fibro sufferers! I hope you all are having a wonderful, pain free day! I just wanted to introduce myself to you all. I'm Heather, 32, mom to 2, a toddler boy 2, and a daughter 14. I was just diagnosed in December. Just finished ruling out MS today. My MRI came back negative, I did a happy dance!!
Anyway, I'm having some symptoms which have not yet been identified and I am hoping you all can help! I have had bladder and bowel control issues...the reumy says this is not Fibro. Do any of you have any issues with control?
Also, my hands are extremely swollen and stiff in the am (my whole body is stiff, but my hands are the most difficult to deal with). The Ruemy says that the swelling is from the Fibro but that the stiffness is from Hypermobilty Syndrome...this seems backwards to me, but I wonder if any of you have difficulty opening or grasping things in the morning? It usually corrects itself after a few hours, but my hands certainly aren't what they once were.
Anyway, thank you for reading, and thank you in advance for your replies. I look forward to getting to know you all, you all seem so friendly and full of knowledge!

Hi Hope and welcome !!
I too was diagnosed in Dec. I too have issues with my hands. I have nodules on my ring fingers, I was told I have Trigger Finger and well ads Brusitis in my joints through out my body.
Back to the hands......I started having an issue with my right hand a little over a year ago, then May 2008, I would wake up in the morning in such pain in both my hands and they would be so stiff !! I couldn't move them for some time. It was almost impossible for me to get dressed, blow dry my hair, brush my hair, even when I saw the doctor I had to go for blood work and the nurse had to fill the paper work out for me cause it hurt to much to write.
I was sent to a Rhumy and was put on Arthritis Meds. Diclefonec 2x a day.
Still on it. My hands are better since I take this med on a regular basis.
He never mentioned to me about this Hypermobility Syndrome. Thats interesting.
It sounds similar to the symptoms I have, but I know that alot of conditions mimik each other.
Are you on any meds?
You will find alot of great people on this board. They have realy helped me through this.

Welcome to our group! You have your hands full with a two year old. I'm glad the MS test came out okay. There's so many symptoms you never know. My hands get stiff, so I try to crochet or bead to keep them limber. Days when they don't want to cooperate I use moist heat. I have a moist heat long heating pad. I dampen the pad and then wrap my hands up in it like a muff. Also If my hands hurt I wash the dishes instead of using the dishwasher. The hot watter feels good. As for bladder and bowel control, I don't have that problem anymore. You do get bladder spasms with fibro at times or IBS. Yeast gets into the bladder and the bowels, so maybe if you cut out sugar and wheat it may help you. It did me. I had bladder cancer so don't take if for granted that it boils down to fibro, get checked out and work from there. Read up on old threads, there's all sorts of answers to things in there.

Thank you both for the warm welcome!
I am not on any meds, I don't do well with them. I was on a muscle relaxer initially, but it gave me headaches and I stopped it. The rheumy prescribed a different one, but it lists an interaction with another medication I'm on so I haven't taken it, and she prescribed me an arthritis medication for the days when the pain is really bad, but I haven't taken it either as it has listed side effects that I don't really want to deal with. I think one day, I'll decide the benefits out weigh the risks, but for today I'm not ready. Go ahead and call me crazy!
I too use moist heat for my pain. It helps tremendously, but it doesn't make opening a sippy cup at 6 am any easier, :D. Gotta run, talk with you all soon.
