:( I just found out I have Herpes2 and totally shocked that I have it but my question is thinking about the people who live with me daughter, grandchildren etc. I know it might be a silly question but I babysit my 4 month grandson and his mom is worried I might spread the virus to him if I handle the child and I just want to know if its ok or have her find another babysitter.

Herpes is called a sexually transmitted disease for a reason. It is spread through sexual activity (intercourse, oral, anal).
Normal day to day contact with small children will not spread the virus to them. Obviously, you want to practice good hygiene like washing hands after using the bathroom, having your own washcloth, razor, towel and toothbrush etc. These are just common sense things to protect you from a lot more than just herpes.

No problem. I did not think you sounded ignorant. We were all there once. Shocked by a diagnosis and doctors who passed out wrong information and ordered the wrong tests.
Read/learn as much as you can and educate your daughter.
Getting rid of the stigma attached to genital herpes will only be accomplished by awareness and knowledge. And hopefully, as a byproduct, less people getting the virus.
Download the 'herpes handbook' and check out Terri Warren's board on webmd. Lots of knowledgable people there.

No problem, your grandson is OK. But you'd better find another babysitter! Don't worry about that! :):):):)
