I am in my late 30's so If I want to get pregnant, then I need to do it soon. I have 2 other older kids and have had a thyroid disorder and have been on beta-blocker for mild mitral valve regurgitation since youngest child was 4 months old. I was told by one Dr that I can't take any meds at all during pregnancy and have been told by another Dr. that I can switch. Anyone else out there who is wanting to get pregnant, but have health concerns? Am I nuts to even want to go down the road of pregnancy again?

Hello! I am 22 and I have been on high blood pressure medications for about 6-7 years now. I was very concerned about this before ttc. My husband an I have been trying for 2 years now. I sugguest you talk to your dr, they can *Hopefully* put you on a medication thats safe for pregnancy. I know in my case there is only ONE medication I can take for high b/p thats safe.
But as far as not being able to take any medications during pregnancy that is not true. I work for an obgyn and they prefer you take as little medications as possible. But if its something your body needs the drs can find something safe for you. Just remember you may was to change medications before actually TTC so that the meds are completely out of your system. Anyway, Good Luck!

Thanks. I was told my two different docs different things. I just want to make sure my unborn baby is safe. And though I am doing foster to adopt right now in the hopes of having another child..I have 2 biological kids right now..I just feel like someone is missing and I am not sure that feeling is going to go away. It literally drives me nuts! I did find a forum on "having three kids" and that helps to discuss my concerns. But because I have medical issues I just don't want to harm my baby or myself.
