Good afternoon everyone. I have a questions. In reading the various posts, the majority of people complain of pain either on the left or right side. My pain is a constant, buring, gnawing pain in the center of my abdomen in my navel area. Do any of you IBS sufferers out there have this pain. Do you feel relief at night? Please respond. I would really like to know. Thanks.

This kind of pain doesn't sound as much like ibs as it would for something like GERD or gastric/duodenal ulcer. Ulcers usually can be treated with acid inhibitors and/or antacids. If they're caused by H. pylori, antibiotics can get rid of them. If its that annoying, and especially since you described it as burning and gnawing, leads me to believe it's an ulcer...specifically a duodenal ulcer, since you said it's right around your navel, instead of the usual pain above the navel with gastric ulcers. But this is just assuming it's an ulcer at all. Better to just go get it checked out.

I have that kind of pain only higher up and it does not respond to GERD/ulcer medication.

I have that pain with my IBS, but it is not in the center of my abdomen. It is in the center of my LOWER abdomen. Almost hard to pinpoint exactly where. Just a vague dull ache burning pain.
