On a CT scan looking for kidney stones they found a cyst on the upper pole of my right kidney. No stones were found. I do have pain on that side sometimes. Can the cyst cause problems. Doctors don't seem worried about it, but I'm freaked out that it might be something bad growing in there. Should I be worried?? Going in for a ultrasound of that kidney today.

Cysts can be a sign of polycystic kidney disease. Or it can just be a simple cyst which you'll just live with theres nothing much they can do about those, they cant remove them because the liquid its filled with is actually poisoness to your body, so if it gets popped youll have to get to the ER. The only way it would get popped is from getting hit there hard, my dad had a cyst pop during a kung fu tournement, he got kicked there.

Hi, wanted to let you know I had the kidney ultrasound. They couldn't even see the cyst on it. So they said it was probably very tiny and nothing at all to worry about. My MD said many many people have small cysts on the kidney and never know it. So unless I start having symptoms I will not worry about it!
Thanks for your replies.
