Is there such thing as a nightmare disorder? I just keep on having nightmares and I see visions of them throughout the day. I can't do work in school because I'm too tired. I'm too tired because I'm afraid to fall asleep.

Hello Under,
Welcome to the boards!
I don't know if there is something they call a "nightmare" disorder, but there are sleep disorders that have the symptoms you describe. I don't know how old you are (because you refer to school), but if you are still living at home, I would suggest you talk to your parents or a school counselor about your symptoms because what you are experiencing is not normal and you need to get sleep. Hopefully, they will get you into see a physician who could rule out physical problems, and refer you on to a board certified sleep specialist if need be.
Let us know if there's anything we can help with.
Good luck!!

Wow first off I'd like to say you have a lot of posts congrats.
:D, I wish everyone was as enthusiastic seeing my signin and the number of my posts...unfortunately, reactions are mixed, :dizzy:. So your comments mean alot to me... Thank you!! Based on your posts, you're observant and smart for someone your age!
Am glad to see you found a diagnosis in which you can recognize and identify with the symptoms. This is a place to start!! I wouldn't advise "diagnosing" yourself...but do read everything you can about dream anxiety disorders. TAKE NOTES! In the course of your research you will find info that may be contradictary in nature. TAKE MORE NOTES...before seeing your physician, review your note book, jot down some questions, and take your note book with you to the exam. Docs don't know everything and taking a note book with you will make your doctor pay attention (they don't always pay attention to us older folks, and you're at somewhat a disadvantage being younger...).
And last but not least, I would hope that you come back and share with us the things you've learned. There is so much info out there, no one can learn/know it all so it helps to research, research, research, and share:angel:
Take care under...it sounds like you are well on your way to learning about, and therefore, treating/curing your health problems.

Well I definitily won't self diagnose but I will see a psychiatrist or a sleep doc about it soon. Since it does affect my days it should be brought up. I will post back with results.
