Hello everyone,
Well, I went to the Neuro on Friday and he did a couple of things to check my balance and coordination. He said positive Rhomberg's sign. He said all of my symptoms fall into the catagory of MS but he needed to do some blood work to rule out some other things and is going to order an MRI of the spine and brain. I don't know when my appointment is, they are going to call me. I have NC State Employees BCBS insurance and they require a pre-certification before they can schedule the MRI.

Anyway, I am not so sure I was pleased with this neuro. I was in and out of his office in about 20 minutes. He just told me to list all my symptoms and then did the balance checks and told me I was very unstable and I should avoid stairs and ladders and any elevated areas until we figure out what is going on. I just feel like there should have been a little more to the visit than that. Maybe I was just expecting too much. Well, I just needed a place to vent for a minute.

The symptom that seems to be giving me the most trouble lately is my right leg feeling so heavy. Does anyone else have this problem? I feel like my leg is swollen on the inside, no visible signs of swelling, just that feeling and it feels like my right leg is 20 pounds heavier than the other one. Just curious if anyone else ever feels this. Take care everyone.... ((( hugs )))

My initial visit with the neurologist in 1982 was quite short too. My neurologist told me that he knew I had MS at the first meeting, but had to wait until the tests made it official. (He used his leverage to get me 3 days of inpatient testing.)

Though you may be disappointed, you need not be. Finish the tests as needed. The blood test, in my non-medical opinion, will provide the evidence. The MRI may or may not show anything depending on the actual number of lesions.

I would consider you to be certainly blessed!! Smile, 'cause the light at the end of the tunnel is sure getting brighter!!

Thanks again Jayhawk. Yes I am blessed. I may not sound like it on these boards sometimes but I truly am an optimist. If I do get down and out at times it doesn't take me long to stop the pity party when I stop and realize that there are a lot of people suffering with terrible illness everyday and things could be much much worse. I really don't get to the "feeling sorry" for myself point, I just get frustrated that I don't KNOW what is the cause of all this. But like you said, the light is definitely getting brighter! As always, thanks for your thoughts and well wishes. Take care Toni :)
