hi maybe i could get some advise?? I do have oral herpes and my wife has hpv. we have been together for 13 yrs and never had a problem. we have always had oral sex and were very carefull. never had oral during an outbreak or for 2 weeks after. she hasn't had an outbreak in 15 years and the doc recently told her it had gone away. i don't know if they did a pap. anywho about a year ago the next morning after sex she was complaining of burning and itching and then a few days later i was burning and started to get tiny clusters of white bumps on the corneal ridge of my penis. the next symptoms was on our lips. our lips are getting weird looking. i don't know how to explain it but they burn at times and are getting sort of dry crusty almost inflamed with deep ridges in them. i take the meds for cold sores and mine don't seem to be as a bad. the symptoms are still there and are getting worse. been to the doc(derma) and he says nothing is wrong with my penis something shiny papules. its my lips that concern me. since i have been on the cold sore meds i haven't had a cold sore outbreak but these symptoms are developing on my lips. so it can't be herpes right, no sore on my penis. could it be beginning stages of hpv on my lips??

Despite my extensive knowledge regarding HPV I really do not know how to answer your question. I don't deal with herpes issues and while HPV 16 has been found in the throat, I've read nothing regarding the lips. Rather than look for medical advice here I suggest you see a doctor, not a dermatologist but internist for your issue.

i don't know if it is anything to do with herpes. wouldn't the meds i'm on suppress any symptoms. i have googled hpv on lips and it looks nothing like it. what do you mean internist??
