It seems i have anal fissures on a regular basis about once or twice a month. usually it happens after eating spicy or other foods that don't agree with my system and using cheap toilet paper. Any tips on making them heal faster?

Hi. My 2 year old daughter just went through this and this is what the Dr. told me to do for her.

Sit in a warm bath with a couple of tablespoons of baking soda in the water. Also, put neosporin on the fissure 2 x a day. Don't wipe with toilet paper, but blot or use a wet wipe to clean up after you go to the bathroom.

Also, add fruit to your diet so that you don't get constipated so you don't tear again.

I hope this helps. My daughter's healed in just a couple of days once I started doing this. Good luck.

I get this problem too. I found that using a coating of A & D ointment on the surface and slightly inside helped heal the fissure. You can find this ointment in the Baby section of the store. Doctors usually prescribe steroids, but I do better if I stay away from them unless I am extremely irritated. Staying away from tomatoes has helped me. Think my stools were very acidic. Warm baths helped me too.
Good luck as fissures are chronic and annoying.

I was just wondering what a fissure is? Will someone please explain?

An anal fissure is a cut or tear in the anal area. It is usually just outside of the opening that the doctor can actually see but can sometimes be inside that he can feel with his finger. They can hurt like heck.
