OK I know that Mirena can stop periods. I've been on it for 2 years now and have always had a period even if it was a little late. GYN put me on Ortho--but it was too strong made me really sick. So she swtiched me to Ortho Lo, which i've gone through one pack of and just started my second yesterday. Well, this is the first month ever that I have not had ANY period at all. The very first pill of the pack yesterday made me so sick I was vomiting all night. I've taken 2 pregnancy tests 2 days apart and they are both negative. However, I am having all of my classic pregnancy symptoms. I've been pregnant 8 so I kinda know the signs. Also, after checking my string it feels like the Mirena has come out a little, I can feel the plastic, where as before I could only feel the string. I'm just really scared that keeping the Mirena in and continuing to take the Ortho Lo will affect a baby if there is one there. I have been known to "fail" home tests when I'm pretty far along and I can't get into my doctor for 5 weeks!!!! Any advice at all will help right now.

That's weird, I'm trying to understand why your doc would put you on a pill when you've still got the Mirena in? It makes sense that you would have some kind of strange hormonal effect with the level of hormones that must be floating around your body right now. Any time you start messing with fake hormones and having an overload (such as women who are on the pill but then take Plan B on top of it), you're bound to have some effect.
I don't think you're necessarily pregnant. Remember that the pill has similar side effects on your body as pregnancy because the pill tricks your body into thinking it's pregnant. So I think it's likely that's what's causing your problem. I wouldn't necessarily jump to the conclusion that you're pregnant. If I were in your shoes, I would just assume all of these problems were due to having both Mirena plus the pill. And I would call your doctor and find out whether it's related. I'm not a doctor but I have to believe, based on what I know about fake hormones, that this is the problem. Even if you can't get in to see the doc, at least try to call and speak with your doc's primary nurse or something. Someone has to give you some answers, if for no other reason, then to put your mind at ease.

Thank you. I am on both because of ovarian cysts. the Mirena wasn't helping with them. So Mirean for BC and pill for cysts. At least that is what was explained to me. anyway, thank you again for the reply.

Try not to worry so much. You're on enough birth control to most likely prevent any kind of pregnancy from happening, so I don't think you should worry about that.
