Hello All
Long time no write. I am currently pregnant and just as last time am experienceing nausea, morning sickness and severe constipation. I was continuing with my 1 tsp of metamucil morning and night till I was vomiting every time. I was having problems as well, when and if it did stay down with drinking enough water to keep my body hydrated enough. If I try to drink too much too often during nausea spells I am instantly ill.
So here is my question, is there a stimulant free, safe fiber caspule? ie: can I get my metamucil does in a capsule and then concentrate on drinking the water? are there any that are safe to take? I will not take anything with added sugar, aspartame etc... or any stimulant in it, I just want the psyllium husk.
I have reverted back to using glycerin suppositories, but I can only use them once every three to four days, otherwise nothing happens (bowels are REALLY REALLY slow moving) and it just isn't helping me enough, so if there are any recommendations I would really appreciate it! thanks in advance

sammy,
You can take psyllium capsules -- my wife take 3 in the morning and 2 in the evening. We use a cap that 860 mgms but many on the market are smaller and I think Metamucil puts out a capsule.
My wife has never been able to drink the powder/ water mixture ---as you know it starts absorbing fluid in the glass and it seems to bloat her before it leaves the stomach and her hiatal hernia produces pain.
I certainly wish you well--Harry

Thanks for the reply Harry,
unfortunately, Metamucil does not put out the capsule form here in Canada... figures right?
We have a thing called Fiber Plus (I think) that is just a caspule of psyillium and prune and is only 450mg however the box says not recommended for pregnant women, neither I nor the pharmacist could figure out why... It is a gelatin capsule with psyllium and prune extract two things that are recomended for constipation even and especially to pregnant women. My pharmacist thinks they are just covering their butts... int his litigious society.
And not wanting to expose myself or unborn child to a possible risk I won't take it. So I am trying Novo Fibre-Tab. It contains 469mg grain and citrus fibre. Seems alright (although I would have liked the extra boost of the prunes.... )and the label doesn't mention anything about pregnant women or anything else in the capsule soooooo there we have it!
Any thoughts? , does any one know anything positive or negative with this product????? or possible side-effects I should watch for or know about.???

Sammy,
It could be that prune extract is too strong for a mother--to BE!!
I order the psyllium caps w/ acidophilus from the Vitamin Shoppe for my wife. But, pure psyllium caps are manufactured by several companies--- it seems like they could order some for you... This ain't exactly rocket science ya know.
I guess I forgot you lived In Canada!!!
Sorry--Harry
