I am scheduled for a colonoscopy on Monday, which means I start my prep tomorrow. I don't know why I am so nervous about it?!?!
Can someone tell me what to expect? I am taking the Gatorade/Mirilax prep, as well as 4 Dulcoloax 2 hours before that.....
I'm afriad that all that going on the toilet will upset my stomach and cause me to fell very ill....
So, What can I expect??

Oh, Don't be nervous hun. I had to do it. It was very laid back and calming. The docter led me through it, and told me everything he was doing. Just keep your cool. You'll be fine.

Actually most people are put to sleep for their colonoscopy. You shouldn't feel a thing. You'll be given an iv drip, and the next thing you will know is when you wake up.
I was awake for the other test,the sigmaosopy(sp)That was a bit uncomfortable, but not terrible.
However, everyone that I know that's had a colonosopy has been "put under." So don't worry, you'll be fine.
The "prep" the night before is the worst part. You shouldn't feel ill during the prep. You'll will just be spending a lot of time in the bathroom. However, it shouldn't make you ill.

I've had a colonoscopy and the stuff I had the day b4 was yuk but bloody hell.......it clears you out, I would have never imagined that I had so much inside me. The actual day of the scope I chewed chewing gum just for a bit of taste really (nurse siad this was ok). Was given a mild sedative and hardly felt a thing. Afterwards, I was very sleepy but felt high as a kite :)
