For people with IBS-D, do you eat oatmeal? I was wondering if people get dirrahea from it or if it helps your symptoms. I used to eat hot cereal but it gave me gas in the evening so I stopped eating it.

I eat instant oatmeal all the time. Has no effect on me. Unless I ruin the taste by putting a teaspoon of flax meal in it; then I go to the BR!

I eat instant oatmeal, and I have no problems with it. After I finish the current box, I'm switching to regular oatmeal, though... that has never given me a problem either.

I just bought a thing of oatmeal, just the regular kind in the cylinder container type thing. I was just wondering though, do you get gas from oatmeal? I got gas whenever I used to eat hot cereal and oatmeal has the same amount of fiber as hot cereal.

Unlike the others, I cannot eat oatmeal. I tried this as an alternative to the wheat products I ate. But I found out that this gives me diaherra and a lot of gas and fatigue. I ate Quaker rolled oats and it made me miserable. I eat rice and that does not give me any problems.

I am new and recentley found out that I have IBS after colonoscopy. I eat maypo and it does not bother me. Doctor also put me on daily metamucil, which I thought was strange because I have frequent diarrehea, but so far it has regulated me, for now.

Hi - I eat oatmeal and don't seem to have any ill effect from it. I try to eat it to give me fiber, and since I'm on a very soft diet for my TMJ disorder, oatmeal works well for meal replacement.
