I'am a 41yr woman who is over weighted with pain in my left side and buttocks for about 3yrs now. When I try to lie on my left side after a while it begans to hurt with sharp pains and hurts more when i try to breath. I will have to sit-up or walk it out. Do you think it has something to do with my weight?

If it feels like it is in the joint, it could be weight related. Perhaps it has something to do with the way you walk - one leg slightly longer than the other, or twisting one leg slightly when you walk, or something like that (an orthopedist might be able to help with this).

If it is internal, it might be something like diverticulosis/diverticulitis.

I get pain in my hip and leg when I lie on my left or right side...yet when on my left side I also get very short of breath. I am not over weight. I wondered if the breathlessness could be heart related. I never connected the pain with the breathlessness until I read your post. What do u think?
