For years as a young child my daughter complained of stomach aches all the time i had her to doctors after doctors each all saying it was something else,,finally a doctor did a ulta sound on her and dicovered that she had been born with an uptopic kidney(think thats how its spelt)which means the right kidney is in position the left is not, took her to a specialist in hamilton ontario he told me that becasue she is still growing(was around 9 10 at the time( now 14) that he wsnt going to be concerned with it and that maybe later in life that she may or may not need surgery.Has anyone heard of this,im also wondering if this can be a casue for over weight as well,,

Hi,

I have actually never heard of this, but you are perfectly capable of functioning on one kidney with problems. It seems like a good idea to operate when you daughter is an adult, as at least she is fully grown and her anatomy will not alter further.

As for the weight problems, these are more likely to be caused by what and how much she is eating, genetic inheritance and how much exercise she gets. Is she diabetic perhaps?

Anyway, hope this helps?
