My first wife died of cervical cancer in 1994 after us being together for 23 years. I have been with my current wife for 15 years. Could I still infect her or be carrying the virus? There has been no signs of abnormal cells so far.

Bbowman, I am so sorry to hear about your first wife.
You (according to research and statistics) most likely have every strain of HPV that your first wife had. You have already shared those strains of HPV with this wife. It is very good that she has no signs of abnormal cells. I hope she is keeping current with her paps and pelvic exams.
Do you know what type of cervical cancer your wife had (adenocarcinoma or carcinoma)? If it was adeno, then your current wife might want to ask her doctor for an HPV test. If it comes back positive, then she might need a colposcopy. If she gets a colposcopy, then it would be a wise idea for her to also get an ECC (endocervical curettage).
Anyway, I hope that helps.
