I had an abnormal pap and was diagnosed with HPV in 2003. I had the pre cancerous cells removed by LEEP. I have had normal paps ever since then. I was just told that I have HPV again. I am married with three kids, can I have gotten this from him? Can he reinfect me and how does he get it? Does it stay dorment in your body and just appear at anytime?

You cannot be reinfected with the same strains of HPV. Once you have them, you have them. They might cause a problem later on in life (months, years, or even decades later), but you can't be reinfected. HPV does not disappear.
HPV is passed by skin to skin contact. One might be exposed to a strain of HPV at ones first sexual contact and it may not cause problems for years or decades.

Thank you...you've helped me understand a little more about it. :)
