With abnormal pap results it is usually a colposcopy and ECC. The Dr. looks at the cervix under magnification and applies an acetic acid (vinegar) solution. If any abnormal areas (which is what the acetic solution causes to show up) the area is then biopsied (its called a punch biopsy and it is a very very small amount of tissue).
If an ECC wasn't mentioned, make sure to ask about why. ECC (Endo Cervical Curretage) samples the cells within the cervical canal, where a pap, Drs and biopsies don't normally get.

Scared09, have you scheduled your colposcopy yet?
I would say the colpo isn't anything to be afraid of. The biopsy of the cervix (if they do one) can be antyhing from pressure to a pinch, but the pain/discomfort is gone pretty quickly (from what I've read).
Keep in mind that the pap is just a screening tool. The colpo gives more information than the pap does. It is good that your doctor is wanting to look closer, so he/she has a better idea of what is going on.
May I ask how old you are?

Scared, since you are young (under 30) your doctor may do the colposcopy and take a few biopsies. If those come back with mild dysplasia (CIN I), then he/she might have you return in a few months (anywhere from 3-6 months) to retest and keep doing that until either everything is cleared, or they decided to do another colpo, etc.
At your age, there is a good chance that your body will fight the virus so it doesn't progress.
Be sure to take plenty of questions in to your next visit to hear what the doctor says.
