I have learned the hard way to TRY and keep a few back each month I get my meds. If I get ready to take a dose and I am not in BAD pain,, I hold off half hr then hr etc. If I can keep back 1 every day and a half that is enough to hold me in case there is ever an issue getting mine filled.
Have you asked your Doctor to RX you 15 mg and take 2 instead of one ? Even the 5 mg to tide you over would be better than nothing.

i am just kind of shocked that your rxing doc wouldn't DO something else for you considering the circumstances? thats just pretty sick to do to a chronic pain patient. was there nothing else they happened to mention to you that you could do for this other than making you suffer thru hell like this? if there is ANYTHING else availiable, i would think they would have just done that for you? thats what happened to me this past month too,but my PM did help me with alternative methods. i REALLY do feel for you and what you are having to go thru. hopefully they can come up with another method til this comes out again? thats just sooo not acceptable to do to you. good luck. Please remember that as CP patients, we have to be our own best advocate....You have to fight sometimes for what is right. Just don't "accept" the back order status. Call the Doc's office and request something else, or a different strength. You are not alone in this and I have to believe that the Doc's office will have a strategy in place.
Best of luck to you.

You do need to call your Dr's office. If you see a PM doc I would expect them to be aware of the situation by now, my internist was already aware of it. I wouldn't go for the 5mg though - they aren't available either, at least in my area. You might have to switch to a different med althogether until the situation resolves itself, that's what I ended up having to do.

The other options would be:
1. Liquid oxycodone
2. Percocet (10/325, 10/500 strengths) - at least you could take 2 or 3 of these but you would need to keep the acetaminopehn under 3000mg/day which would be 6 x 10/500.
You could ask your doc about these 2 options instead since the problem seems to be long standing.
