Hey fellow supporters, i can't thank you enough and i mean everyone that was there to help ithier way! I am so glad i listened to your encouragment ect, on sticking with the pm dr. or not. I had my appointment today and although i am hurting alot kinda more than i did when i went in it's to be exspected because i had another Epidural injection but he said it was a different kind, i dont undertand much about that part, but i do understand the part where he said he is not going to rule out the fact that it could be just that of the Transitional vertabrea being the cause. He agree with my to have a lower plain exray done and even added in there the bend over type and different angles and such:D:D:D. I am so excited i would jump up and down if i could. And he also added in there that if it doesnt work that he will think about getting a surgeon involved:D again! And then he increase the methadone due to not being very effective and probably the fact i dont ever and sometimes cant get sedation with the injections:D Last but not least he is not giving up and is hopeful to have something figured out before summer gets here;) A Dr. with a goal, youdont find that everyday hes such an:angel:. So again guys thanks for haning in there for me while i leaned on you! Oh i almost forgot to add that the injection brought on that feeling i get withthe doing to much not being able to stand up on my feet and the feeling as if theres something stuckin my back area!!!! Althought he made the nerve pain in my leg go up a few notches, it felt good knowing that he may have got the right spot! Then again i know if it is the Transitional Vertabrea then it's only a bandaid and they will possibly have to do something surgical maybe i am shining bright for now!

Monkey, im so glad you found a doc with some optimism about your transitional. It took me a while to find someone interested with that too, but it was worth it. I have not quite found out what is wrong with me yet either but I do watch what you say carefully as I still feel as if you and I have the same problem, just not sure exactly what it is. You are doing good at keeping after them to help you. I wonder what percentage of people with transitional vertebrae have back problems?? A lot of people dont know they have one until the problems start so I guess it would be hard to judge that. Hope you are feeling better after your injection!!

Lisa, yes actually i'm almost in my forty's.Yes they help as much as teenager boys would be exspected to! So dont take this the wrong way but if i had to ever have surgery, luckily my husbands employer is very caring and understanding more than others but for what it's worth it would be nice if i could just go with epidurals working long tern!

ihavetwins, how have you been? I havent seen you around much but i have been here lately to try and get some posotive information! I hope all is well? Jen i had thought you had found somone helping you? Yes i remember talking a while back but i thought you were getting somewhere. Are you seeing a pm dr. as well? The only thing i can say i did was follow all these instructions about following through with the whole pt process and getting nowhere and then going to a pm dr. who said i have done all the little stuff and am probably tired of it all and he will just move to the higher steps, i finally got lucky i guess even though i was leary lately let me tell you but it's working. Don't give up it will maybe take a while but you will get there! Tell me whats been happening with it all? So i can try to help!

I forgot that no i am not getting any relief from the injection yet, but they say just like the others it could take a few days to kick in ugh. It did not go numb like the other Epidural i had right away it got really intense, i would hate to feel the intesity it could cause if it gets any worse!

Hey monkey, that's awesome that he's committed to helping you and following through until you get results. Surgery is always a last resort but sometimes one we have to explore. I think it was all the smiley faces in your post that gave the impression of happy surgery thoughts - It sounds like you were just excited to have finally found someone who'll help you find relief. It sounds like ur pm did nerve blocks instead of an epidural - I find that thses can cause a flare up at first also. Good luck, monkey, I hope it all works out.

Oh how WONDERFUL Monkey!! It seems that you are so happy with your PM Dr now. I am Just thrilled for you. I hope that surgery can fix you, as I know you have been suffering with back pain for a very long time, since I think 2007 right? I spent a lot of time reading back on all of your post and my heart goes out to you for all you have been through in your life. so many medical ailments, and really very few diagnosis and so much suffering for one person is heart breaking to me. Maybe after suffering with back pain for 2 years you will finally get some relief with surgery if that's what it takes to get you better than go for it!!! you seem like a new person today..I am praying for you Monkey. you deserve to be pain free and have all of the support you can muster up from your buddies on health boards. good for you!! Hang in there and I am glad to hear how positive you sound and up beat. It sounds like your DR is really stepping up to the plate to figure out what is causing your excruciating pain. This is so exciting...
All the best to you Monkey, SS

SS, thanks so much! I will be able to live i think if it just takes the injections to help for a long period of time, but a permanent fix would be even better, you know what i mean right! I also just read up on what types of Epidural injections there were besides pregnancy ones and it never dawned on me that i started the the insomnia crap at the same time they started the injections wich could have been the steriod meds they put in some, plus the headaches as well! I know to some people two years isnt crap if you have been suffering more than that i console with anyone on that level after all this. And even though it could be a lot longer i feel better staying upbeat and posotive

Monkey,
I'm just curious, how long ago were you in your car accident, isnt this what started your back pain?

Lisa,i started having mild pain while working with heavy lifting ect. , and then it intesified after the car accident (slamming my whole left side and back) and working doing heavy lifting standing mobile all day some days and twisting and bending, they say thier not sure if the accident is related(dr.s that is)PT stated i just might not be able to go back to that kind of work, so as i get treatment i hope to be able to work at least or very mild.

Hey Monkey:
How is the Methadone going for you? Have you gotten used to the side effects? How is it working on your pain? Do you see any results?

Brian, i am getting used to side effects, and although it wasnt doing much for pain especially with the epidural i had yesterday. The Dr. increased it from 2 a day to 3 a day and we will se how that goes as the injection takes effect in a few days. It intensified the pain i have when doing to move and daily but i am hopeful it will get better. I have to go have exrays done today, hopefully this will tell them something as to what might work better or not. Thanks for checking in on me! How are you doing?

Brian, it's day three on the higher dose not much of difference yet. Do you know how long side effects could last with methadone? I am having the runny nose effect argh. I might not be taking this much longer unless i can get insurance to cover this. It's not terribly exspensive but right now my husband is laid off and every little bit helps! It's crazy how my leg feels after this injection. It feels the same way it did when i fell one time and i thought for sure i broke my leg. It very well could have been from back damage i'm thinking effecting the nerve, not sure At least the injection site is getting less sore, so i am hoping for the best here!

monkey,
It is going to take at least a week for you to see the effect from the increased dose. I would say that it could take at the most a month for you to become adjusted to the side effects. Methadone is one of the least expensive pain medications out there and I highly doubt you would want to go without it. You would see how much it is helping if you were to go off of it probably. I don't know that for sure but it is probably helping more than you realize. Please just give it some time, try to get used to the side effects, and don't stop taking it without your doctors permission unless you want to endure terrible withdrawal effects (trust me you don't want to).

brian, thanks for the advice. I wouldnt stop it without dr.s permission as i read you can have bad effects as well like you said, i was mainly worried about the now side effects! Hopefully they will all smoothe out! Man i had to walk up stairs to get my son yesterday and i have been paying for it today, been down most of the day. Hubby and son had to help me get out of bed this am. as i was stuck again and couldnt move, so much for the happy days!
