Hi,
I overdid it and my back was hurting so I was rubbing it near the spine under my ribs I found a lump. Its almost oval shaped and on my right side you can feel it by just running your fingers lightly over the skin. Now the skin over it is red (could be from me checking it out) my Dr cannot see me till next week and I am freakin out about. Cancer? Cyst?
I am a 44 year old chubby woman.
Thanks

Sounds like a muscle knot, it'll go away by itself eventually. Warm compresses help*, gently stretching, eat a banana a day for the potassium and magnesium. Some people get knots because they're deficient in calcium.

It could be a cyst or lipoma (lipomas are benign) but since it showed up right after overdoing it, I'm guessing it's muscular.

*don't apply heat to areas that are swollen, hot or red. Try cool compresses instead.

PS - I'm a 40 year old chubby woman - there seems to be alot of us here on the healthboards! lol :p

Thanks!!! I never had a "lump" before. I have had to go on meds for over stretching my back before, this time I could almost walk normally so I thought no don't need a Dr visit then last night I found it and starting freakin out. I couldn't even sleep! I will eat the bananas instead of my usual oranges and apples. And go to the Dr just in case!
Thanks so much I didn't know a muscle knot was actually a muscle KNOT. I am certainly not looking forward to this aging thing!
Thanks again!!
Lora
