Hi, when having a rountine smear the result showed i have HPV (strain unknown) and CIN 1. Consequently, went along for a colposcopy and freeze treatment. I have recently gone back for a 6 month check up and it looks as though i will have Leep proceedure done (bit scared). I just wanted to know, as i have HPV my b/f probably does too - if we dont use condoms will he pass it back to me or should he be treated to?

Anyway, HPV is a virus. Once you've been exposed, you've been exposed. From what I understand (and have read at highly reliable websites) is that it isn't something that you can "keep getting again and again" like a yeast infection.

The expectation (and hope) is that the LEEP will remove all atypical cells and the virus won't take up residence anywhere else. It often is sufficient treatment.

There is no treatment for HPV for men (other than low risk which can cause genital warts) unless his strains of HPV have caused dysplasia of some sort for him.

I hope that helps.
