Well for one Ultram(tramadol) is an atypical pain medication that has opiod properties along with affecting serotonin & norepinephrine neurotranmitters in the brain (essentially a mild opiod & anti-depressant combined).

While Lortab (acetaminophen & hydrocodone) is an opiate medication (Class III controlled substance). They both work on pain although some people respond differently than others. They can both be addictive and you will become dependent on them if taken for a period of time. Hope that helps.
