The Doctor thinks with my symptoms that I may have passed a Kidney stone..I think my symptoms sound more like Gallstones...anyway he wants to do a Sonogram next Tuesday, what is it like..what do I have to look forward too?
Is it possible to have either of these two stones giving me pain on and off for 4 months?
Hi - I have been reading your posts (and responding a little http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif) - The location of your pain does seem more like gallstones than kidney stones. Does it correlate at all with eating certain foods - especially high-fat or greasy foods? I have an ultrasound (or sonogram) done many times before - for various reasons, including kidney stones and gallstones. I have not had an ultrasound accurately find my kidney stones before - mine have been found via IVPs or CT Scans. However, an ultrasound did diagnose some thickening of the wall of my gallbladder. An ultrasound is a painless test that can provide a lot of information and I think should be able to identify gallstones. Yes - either gallstones or kidney stones could give you pain and other problems off and on for months. My first kidney stone was not diagnosed until 6 months after my symptoms began. Good luck - I hope you get some answers and feel better soon!
