Please don't take offence, but where are you? Why does it take so long to schedule your lithotrypsy? Is it because of the doctor or lack of access to a machine? Where I am (Southeastern U.S.) we have a 'traveling' machine. It is in a semi-trailer and travels around the area. We are trying to get a machine for the local hospital, but they are not concidered to be "critical equipment".

Even with that, I saw my doctor on June 18, we decided to blast my stones, I told him I would check my schedule, and its being done on July 1.

If it is possible, in your situation, I would consider traveling to where a machine is available. When I had my first lithotrypsy there wasn't a machine in my area so I travelled 100 miles to the nearest machine. I still didn't have to wait more than a week and the local kidney support group (don't remember the name) put me and my family up for the night in a hotel room the night before. Also, most insurance companies will pay for travel and lodging if travel to another facility is indicated. If your doctor isn't willing to advise travel to an available machine, find one that will.

Don't stay in the kind of pain I know you must be having for the convenience of your doctor. Have him refer you to someone who can get it done soon, if that is possible. That's what mine did.

Good luck.
