If you have had numerous serious kidney infections that may be the cause. Because of these infections it causes your kidney's to lose function therefore they may shrivel. I had kidney reflux, twisted ureter and enlarged kidney since birth. I did not have many kidney infections but I did have some UTI's. When I was 18 my kidney's were not working. I had to go on peritoneal dialysis for 10 months then I had a kidney transplant. I have been doing fine but when I became sexually active I started getting the UTI's again and I had a very bad kidney infection which my doctor thinks may have caused my new kidney some damage. Your doctors will stay on top of your situation due to what is going on with you. Kidney's are very important to living. Just try to keep calm and concentrate on eating healthy and keeping clean. Try to avoid getting infections because that will only make things worse. I wish you good luck on what is going on with you.
