I have been in treatment for stones in both kidneys since Feb. I had litho on right kidney which was successful, then had it on left kidney which wasn't. I am having a utereroscopy this coming Thursday which I hope will work. In the meantime though I have a question about digestive problems and stones. My first symptoms (although it was three months before I knew it) were a couple of episodes of severe vomiting and diarrhea that I had no explanation for. Eventually I was diagnosed with the stones. Since then it has happened about four more times, the most recent being today. I was diagnosed years ago with irritable bowel syndrome and have seen on several sites that kidney stones might be related to bowel disorders. I am wondering if anyone has similar exprience or can relate to the symptoms I am having. Prior to late December of 2002 I vomitted extremely rarely. Also, do I need to report this to my Doc each time or just when I have scheduled appointments. Does it mean there might be a bigger problem? The time before this one today I ended up in the hospital having a stent put in because a stone was blcking my ureter. The stent is still in place but now I am noticing increased discomfort. Sorry this is such a rambling post I have a lot of questions!!! Thanks!!!!!

Hey! I am so sorry for you! It's awful to be feeling so terrible, and not really knowing what to do. When my husband's stone began to move, he was vomitting and having all sorts of problems, including fever. It lasted all day, and landed him in the hospital, too. You definitely need to get with someone about it -- especially if the episodes are becoming more frequent. Maybe there's some dietary changes that you can make to reduce your risks of creating stones. Good luck on Thursday. I hope it works, too.
