I've been reading the forum and can't really find anything that describes my problem. This has happened about 3 times this month. When I'm sleeping I am suddenly woke up by jolts of pain in my kidney area. It feels almost if someone is electricuting me. I can't breathe or move in the slightest bit when this happens. Finally I make myself sit up and it subsides after a few minutes. Then after that I have a dull pain and fullness feeling for a few days. Any clue to what this could be? The area of pain is my navel traced around to my back. Also it's on both sides.

I have had kidney stones several times. I can remember walking down the steps from my bedroom and getting a pain that felt as though I was kicked so hard right in the kidney area. It sent me to the floor and I was in the fetus position for awhile before my husband found me. I have also been sound asleep and awakened by pain so horrible I would scream crying! You may very well have a stone that is leaving the kidney area and traveling. This pain can become worse. I think you should see a doctor soon. Good luck.
