I quit taking birth control pills in december 08 after being on various brands for three years. Its been about three months now and I haven't had a period. I've taken 4 pregnancy test all a few weeks apart and they were all negative (last test I took was last night)Im not worried about pregnancy because we have not had any problems with the condoms. I know it is somewhat normal to not have a period for a while after quitting the pill but how long should I let it go before seeing a doctor? I don't think that there is much the doctor can do for me but I feel like I should go and make sure there is not a problem. Before I started the pills my period came every 32 to 34 days like clockwork, kind of a long cycle but very regular. Anyone have any insight? How long should I wait before going into the doc?

It can sometimes take anywhere from 3 to 6 months for your cycles to be regular again after the pill. You could always go to the doctor now, though, and see what they say.

It took my best friend about 14 months before her hormone levels went back to normal after discontinuing the pill (she was on it for around 10 or so years). She had gone to her doctor and had everything checked out and she was fine otherwise, and took a number of pregnancy test and they all came back negative.

If you're worried, I'd go see your doc to perhaps put your mind at ease, but you probably have nothing to worry about! I've never had a regular menstrual cycle (I can go up to 6 months without having one) without taking the pill, and I'm healthy as a horse, so just because you're not having a period doesn't mean there's something wrong with you :)
