I have noticed these small, brown lines on the a few of my front, bottom teeth. They are on the edges of the teeth and are very slight. I brush and use mouthwash two times a day, but the lines never fade or go away. The good thing is they don't get any darker either. I really don't think they are noticable by other people, either.
What could be the cause of these lines?

Are the lines at the gum line? Maybe it could just be from food stains and if the gum is now lower on the tooth you can see. I have a black line on one of my teeth and it never goes away. I've had xrays and there is no decay. My dentist said that it's from rinsing with flouride alot although no other teeth have this line.

Actually they are on the sides of the teeth.
I think I had them when I went to the dentist, but he didn't say anything so I either they weren't there or it is nothing to worry about.
