Infected Tooth

Hi
I had a root canal done this wed. on a tooth that was infected from before
Many years ago I had a root canal done on the same tooth and a crown put and it never hurt me however I went to this new dentist because I had pain in another tooth and he took an x-ray of my entire mouth and discovered that this particular tooth was not done properly . & he says that there is an abess/ infection in the bone so he re-opened this tooth and re-did the root canal and ever since I have been in unberable pain
He has given me amoxilin (to kill the infection) and T3 for pain
I have some white stuff around this tooth and the neighbouring tooth and of course the pain is just horrible
I'm not sure what to do
should I get a second opinion
should I pull out this tooth

Hi there..I just had to chime in on this one. I am an excellent example of why one should NOT get a root canal. Most dentists do not believe what I am about to tell you because they are not taught it in dental school. In a lot of cases when the tooth is drilled out, the infection is forced up into the jaw bone and then continues over a period of time to cause bone loss. Then one day (for no apparent reason) a tooth will come out (with no pain involved) because there is no longer enough bone to support it. There are a few dentists that understand this but they are few & far between. The ones that are aware can rebuild the bone without all the slicing & dicing (done in most practices).
If I had it do do all over again & couldn't find an alternative dentist in my area, I would opt to have it pulled! JMO.

Hi badonna
thanks for your reply
I'm screwed
This dentist has done about 5 root canals so far . This infected tooth was probably the 6th one
You are right about this bone loss
cause that's exactly what was happening from this recent root canal that I had done on Wednesday
What do you suggest I do from here on?
