Hi,

I just had a urinalysis done for life insurance and they called and said my urinalysis was abnormal. My protein count was 102, my WBC was 14 and red blood count was 7 and protein/creatinine ratio was .58, all of them elevated. What does this mean? I had a UTI two weeks before this urinalysis and took ALL of my medicine. Could that be it? They want to come back out and do a urine test two more times within two days of eachother.
Does anyone have any insight to what this could indicate?
Thanks so much,
KELLAZ3

Protein in the urine is common in people during infection and after strenous exercise. Urine should be rechecked when the acute situation has passed. If repeat urinalysis is normal there is nothing to worry about. If you have elevated WBC and RBC in your urine it suggests that your UTI has not resolved yet and you need to repeat urine culture and sensitivity.

Hi Bird123,

Thank you very much for replying. My primary care wants me to come in to see him today to check me out and then I'm sure he'll do another urinalysis again. I hope it was just my bladder infection that didn't resolve! I'll keep you posted.

Thanks again,
KELLY
