I've had my daughter to two or three different doctors about her relux. She has also had VCUG test done once a year since the age of 1. All I have been told is that she can take medication and has since the age of 12 months and has been on most of the meds on the market for reflux my only fear is now I know we have reaches the point of now the cysts are disturbing the function of her kidney and she cannot make it to the bathroom on time. I cannot even properly potty trainher due to her condition I know that there is alot of research that one person can live with one kidney. I don't know how to handle the fact that I was never suppose to havebabies and now I am the mother of two gorgeous girls and one has alot of medical problems and now I guess you could say now I have them I'm afraid I'm going to lose her any advise for coping

I too had a child with stage 3-4 reflux. Run do not walk to the nearest pediatric urologist (preferably at a children's hospital if possible). Reflux causes scarring to the kidneys which is permanent damage. My son is now 16 and has diminished kidney function. There is a lot of financial help if you do not have insurance. Probably some type of surgery will be needed to repair, but check out the doctors track record before allowing him to touch your daughter. Ask how many of the surgeries he has done, etc. My prayers are with you.

Thank you everyone thinks I am crazy to worry about her so much but she is my first and it has been three years since her diagnosis and not one doctor has reached out to spare her the pain it took me pulling teeth to get her to see a peds urologist at Children's Hospital of Western Ontario and now I would just like for her to get better as it stands now she is not even 4 yrs old yet and I cannot count the number of meds and infections she has had she can also tell me when she has an infection I am scared the damage is already done it has been almost three years thank you

Hey, don't worry everything will be ok! I had felux ever since i was born, and was on medicine just like your daughter. I had constant urinary track infections, and just like your daughter I new when ever I got on, and I By the time I was 5 they opted to take my left kindey out. Now I'm 16, and living with one kidney has never effected my health, or lifestyle in any way. I play basketball, and swim, and run track, and besides an occasional check up every 2 years or so I never even think about it. It hasn't damanaged me at all, and all i have left from it is a small scare on my side, and one about 4 inches below my stomach. Any way's the surgery itself was harder on my parents than on me. So just hang in there and everything will be fine. I'm sure there's other options out there too now, besides just removing her kidney, she'll be fine!!!
