hello all you fellow kidney stone sufferers..
5 years ago when I was a ripe age of 20 I experiences my first kidney stone one day at work. It was VERY SUDDEN, going from back pain in the lower left side to UNBEARABLE pain in the lower left and front right areas around my left kidney in a matter of 15 minutes.

I was rushed to the hospital b/c I had no idea what the hell was going on (pain so intense I thought I would pass out), turns out I had a nice size stone. But the thing is, until that day, I didn't know anything was going on...

speed time up til now, I am 25, and for the last 3-4 months I have been getting twinges on the same side in what feels like my kidney area. These are also felt in my back. In the past month and a half these twinges have turned into little sharp pains (back to fron or front to back, but always in my kidney area), and are more noticeable when I work out. I am wondering now if these are early symtpoms of a kidney stone??? Cuz I have no idea what early ones would feel like....I am so nervous cuz I remember how awful it felt the first time, and I don't want it to get to that point again...lemme know what you think.

Thanks!

Hi, I totally understand what you are going through. I had my first kidney stone attack about 5 months ago at the age of 25 and it was the worst pain I ever experience in my life. But recently like you I've been getting little pains here and there at the lower right part of my back, same side where my stone was, I am always worried that I will get really bad. it's been doing that for a few months now it comes at goes. It's not a big pain it's just uncomftorble. I've been thinking of going to see the doctor.

I like you, had my first stone when I was 20. I am 46 now, and I assure you, I have had my share of them. Six in the past 2 years. The little twinges you describe can very well be another stone in there. They do not always have the excruciating pain you described with the first one. I have had one bothering me for about a month now. It never hurts real bad, but just enough to let you know it is there. I am hoping to pass it if I am lucky. I have passed some that I didn't even know were there. No pain at all. But, some are hell on earth.

Hi all

I FINALLY passed a stone this morning which started bothering me a couple of weeks ago. My left kidney area and then like a twinge of pain going around to my side. I always hope that I "just pulled a muscle" when I get this as it sort of feels like tightening of my muscles. The pain went away after a few days and then yesterday early when I got up to urinate in the middle of the night (and this is when they ALWAYS get me!) it moved and it moved good! I was in excrutiating pain and it was down in the front and felt as if it were "right there" ready to pass but it didn't. IT was just a horrible tightening achey pain. I was lucky enough to have passed it early this a.m.! Horray! My only problem now is being sore from it but feeling ALOT better!
I have had several kidney stones over the past 10 years or so, the last being two years ago.
Not fun for sure!!!!!!!!!
I always keep pain killers on hand "just for the occassion".

R
