Hi I have a lump in my cheek next to my laugh lines and I am getting worried about it. It's about the size of a pea, it's hard and it hurts when I press down to feel it. I've had it for a few weeks now and I thought it was a pimple getting ready to surface, but it never did and it feels like its in the dermis. Should I get it checked out by a specialist? I'm worried that it may be a tumor. :( Thanks!

If something is bothering you to this point, then yes, have some one look at it. I'm not quite sure what your hesitation might be? I know we sometimes feel doctors might think we are jumping at shadows, but when it comes to your health and body truthfully, nothing can be more important to YOU! Have it checked out.

This is sort of an unlikely place for a tumor. It is more likely a cyst or abscess under your skin. Cysts are usually benign, but, if it is on your face and bothering you, you should make an appointment to see a dermatologist. Many doctors can tell just by feeling the skin in question whether or not it is potential cancer...and if the doctor is concerned s/he will do a biopsy.

I would get it checked out, but don't worry about it until you have to.

Good Luck!

Did you ever get this checked? Just wondering. I had the same thing except mine was more closer to the lip. Good luck
