:I had surgery for a freibergs infarction a month ago and still in tremendous pain. The doctor said the procedure was not as extensive as he thought it would be. I just figured after 17 days of non weight bearing and now in boot and using crutches that I would not be in as much pain as I am. My pain meds were increased twice with limited relief. I have stopped taking them because they were causing very bad insomnia (didn't sleep for three days) I have called the doctor several times to voice my concern and just keep being told to elevate my foot as much as possible. My main problem right now is pain and when I elevate my foot it goes numb in 5-10 minutes and becomes more painful then when it is not elevated. The pain starts at the back of my knee and shoots down to my foot. My foot also feels like it is on fire and throbs when elevated. I always thought elevation would decrease pain but it increases mine. Anyone have any clue what could cause this?
