After I lay down to go to bed, about 5 minutes or so, my feet start to go numb. When I wake up in the mornings and get out of bed, I don't feel the usual pins and needles feeling, it's more like the feeling of my feet being swollen and hard as rocks. IDK how to explain it, but I am SICK of it. HELP!!!!

Hi mammabear I too am suffering the same as you. I am due to see a neurologist on 16th April.
I have a feeling of very cold feet in the day and a slight numbness not like pins and needles but when I lay down to sleep at nighy ,my feet feel swollen and my toes feel like big sausages and my feet burn like crazy. On looking at them they look normal.
If I manage to get some sleep, on awaking, my feet feel like concrete in that my toes are dry and heavy like concrete. I cannot move my legs and feet for a few seconds and I manage a bit at a time.My toes go a purpley red when put to ground...I know it sounds silly but my honest thoughts about the feelings that I experience is that I am turning into concrete as it sometimes goes to the back of knee.:dizzy:

Just as I thought no-one answering whats the point ? I am fed up too with being told there is nothing wrong after tests and things. it s all a waste of time going for these appointments when they cost money to get there....and I can ill afford to throw a\way
All the same symptoms I have seen on these health boards and yet the doctors, specialists never know whats wrong..they must know as so many people have the same symptoms. Just fed up trying to get some answers.

Just a few questions- Have you been tested for Diabetes or a Blood clot? The reason I ask, is that it sounds like you have circulatory issues.

Hi DHS, thank you for your reply, Yes have been tested several times over last few years for diabetis and thyroid, last time just a few weeks ago. I eat a well balanced healthy diet and have for years and hardly eat sugar. Not sure about clotting though how do theycheck for that one? I have to see a neuro next month but feel all will come back the same ..negative..I have since had a hip replacement as this started a few years ago. I have been for Mri scan GP thought it could be spinal stenosis but NO but I have severe arthritis or oesteoarthritis in my back but I dont know how because I am not suffering with my back.I am at my wits end because I am losing sleep and feel tired all the time and that doesn`t help. Thanks again for your reply.

Added to "I wore Tight Shoes" Thread but brought here so you can view most symptoms.
Hi I started out a few years ago for work and when I got there my feet burned and I couldn`t wait to get my shoes off and when I finally did the pain was awful for a few minutes. Never had a feeling like that as shoes were always comfortable, right up ubtil that time. My she size actually went up two sizes from that day onward. Iwas sent to a specialist or specialists as I thought me feet were still growing although was in my 50s came back nil. after all this time I have been diagnosed with PN a fter having a hip replacement and was kept being told one thing at a time as we can only deal with one ailment. I could scream as now I am driven nuts with numb feet and they feel like concrete when I wake up no pain as such just a numbness (not like pins and needles) but associated with feelings of extreme cold in day and extreme burning at night and if anything touches my big toes on either feet It feels like a great electric shock.
I am now being referred to a neurologist in April and suppose to be having tests for nerve conduction consisting of electric shocks...I told my Gp no way am I having that because I have heard it is very painful and the thought of electric going through my body scares hell out of me.
What I am getting at is after all that time there was no help avavilable for me because I could not buy shoes big enough so couldn`t attend my hospital appointments and telephoned them to say thawhy I couldn`t make it and was taken off the list and reffered back to my GP. So now am at the point that when I go for appointments 2 miles away I am expected to go whatever ...so I go without shoes even though I dont drive and have to get there on my own steam .I am bloody fed up with everything and feel like jumoing off the Tallest bridge to end it all as last appointment I turned up with no shoes on my feet and got a telling off.

Sylvianne,
To find out if you have a blood clot, ask your doctor for an ultrasound of both your upper thigh and calf.
