:dizzy:I had Double foot surgery last year (jan 21) Both feet had bunion removal and Hammer toe correction. All went well and I healed as scheduled but NOW I notice that the toe on my right foot (the second toe) is drooping. When I am laying in bed or couch my big toe is where it supposed to be but my second two is drooping down - I had a pin this this toe after surgery and the toe was alligned properly up until a month ago and it seems every day its going down - has anyone had this happen? Also the second toe on my other foot is allignned fine but it appears to be getting longer - i really dont want to go thru surgery again but thought Id seeif anyone experienced this

I think that you are lucky that your toe is drooping in a year time and not just straight after the operation! At least you lived for the whole year with a beautiful toe! Mine were drooping the moment my pins were taken out - which was 6 weeks post-op. I had all 4 little toes aligned.
At the moment I am only 4 month post-op, and I am still recovering but I can clearly see that I am not the lucky one as my surgeon did not do a good job. (not saying that my nurves were cut and now I don't feel 2 out of 4 toes). I suppose I have to leave with this.

Wow I felt terrible to read your post. I am not sure what to do - Go to the doct again or just let them droop.... So did you get any news from doctor or a reason why yours were drooping.. I know when they had the pins in them I wondered why he had them pinned so far down to the ground as apposed to straigth with the others. hmm that might of been my first clue..............

Hello tdud9055, firstly, if you don't have pain, I wouldn't do another operation just for drooping toe; you cannot guarantee that the second operation will make it better! Regarding the reasons why it is drooping - I know that mine were mis-alighned in the first istance; why? - because the doc wasn't diligent enough to do his job properly. When mis-alighned, tendons which hold the toes are extended/ shorten unevenly. Also, in my case, I think some muscle were damaged. I also have my nerves cut on my second toe (this toe is particularly drooping and it is very much floppy) I cannot move this floppy toe at all and I don't feel it either. I have my post-op follow-up on 24 March, so I will ask the doc about the exact 'anatomy' causing toes either stick up or droop.
Kind regards, and all the very best.

i didnt realize it meant floppy toe. i had that for a while due to a wrong surgery. it was fixed only because i had a torn ligament.
